Picturing Sunset Park: American Legion Post 965

American Legion Post 965 was founded by veterans of World War I. Over the years, the Fourth Avenue building played host to $5 spaghetti dinners and $15 a plate charity fundraisers. In September, the remaining Legionnaires rented the space out to the Chen family, who opened up a 99 cent store in the former hall.

    • I’ll leave that question to history. Speaking of which, Post 965 seems to have a ton of it. Only problem is there aren’t too many left to tell it. I’m on the hunt!
